1930's
• Georgann Inn - It was owned and operated by George and Anna Hatch.

• This Inn was formerly known as the Dinning Hall. Link to more details.

• The hotel was destroyed by fire in 1947.

• The Hatchs also owned the cottage that they named the Georgann.

• Georgann (the Cottage) is remains to this day and is located - at 1201 Evergreen.
1938's
• Letterhead of stationary used by the Georgann Inn, as this building was known at the end of its useful life.
1930's
• Charles Flint installed half of the curbs in the park

• Using the above concrete mixer on a Model T truck. This photo was taken out in front of 1609 Monroe.

• The Flint Family's connections to Assembly Park spans four generations.

• The Flint's owned and rented cottages.

• They constructed curbs, rented boats with motors and without motors, and they even sold worms.

• The Flint Family' ran a boat livery from about 1933-1962.

• Jim Flint - (above) was caretaker of Assembly Park around 1915.

• Bob Flint, Jim's grandfather, and his wife Pat, lived in the park for over 23 years.

• Jim and Pat served on the Park board.

• 1930's Lake Lawn Hotel changed hands again during the Depression, when George W. Borg, a local entrepreneur credited with developing the clutch on the automobile, purchased the property with the objective to open a resort to the public

Mid 1930's
• Park benches with cement ends, shown in the above picture were constructed in the flurry of improvements that occurred during the mid 1930's.

• At that time, eight 12 foot benches and eight 7 foot benches were built at a total cost of $150.

• Many of these benches were replaced in the late 1990’s.

September 15th

May 6th
• German zeppelin Hindenburg crashes in Lakehurst, New Jersey, ending the airship era.
July 7th
• Japanese invasion of China, and the beginning of World War II in the Far East.

1938

December
• Time Magazine declares Adolf Hitler as Man of the Year.

1939

September 3rd
• Britain and France declare war on Germany; World War II begins.

1934
• Sta-Rite founded by William C. Heath who developed water systems. Heath later designed landing gears for B-17 and B-29 bombers and also developed a high-speed submersible pump that was used in the capture of a German submarine.

• During the 1940's During World War II, Delavan businesses had over 30 contracts for the U.S. government to assist in the war effort, this lead to Delavan as one of the top ten prime targets for enemy sabotage.

April 27th
• Eight cottages, on South Gazebo Drive, burned down, in the park, left over leaves from the fall allowed the fire to spread.
1935
Mid 1930's
• A flurry of improvements occurred, during this period, Park benches with cement ends, were added to the parks and beach. A total of 16 benches were purchased at the cost of $150. These were later replaced in 1998.

• A new flag pole was dedicated.

• The President's report mentioned "the old and unsightly toilet building on block F has been moved to the west side of the park, near the water tank (which has since been removed.) and will be used for storage purposes."

• The concrete boat ramp was installed in 1935. The ramp affords boat owners easy access to the lake and the storm water drainage for a three hill street. The above photo is a view of Lincoln Avenue from the lake.

• My Wild Irish Rose" cottage with oil tank. 1513 State Street. - date of photo unknown.

• Log cabin at 1611 Grant Avenue still stands today.- date of photo unknown.

• Hilltop Park, formerly known as "Block B", was to be made into a park.

• Motorized boats must have attracted considerable attention when they first appeared on the lake. This one might have been a Thompson with 5 h.p. motor. Paul Shives (Dorothy Radford's uncle) piloted one of the earliest power boat on the lake.
