An AED, or Automated External Defibrillator is a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyze the heart's rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm. An AED can provide life-saving care in those critical moments of a medical emergency while awaiting forhelp to arrive.

Thanks to the leadership of Assembly Park's Sheila Pavich, B.S.N, R.N. and Kathy O’Brien M.S.N., R.N., an AED device was purchased for the community to provide for immediate, emergency care for individuals experiencing cardiac arrest. In 2025, an updated AED was purchased, with improved technology for support and ease of use. The AED is located in the mailroom of Assembly Hall, and is available 24/7 for the
community.

As always, in an emergency, call 911 first when possible.
